Born in Abidjan in 1994, Nuits Balnéaires is an ivorian visual artist based in Grand-Bassam. He plays a key role in the emerging Ivorian art scene, and his practice is articulated between photography and film. After completing his studies in Business Management, he decided to devote himself to fashion photography and collaborated with brands such as Lagos Fashion & Design Week and Vlisco and Co. In 2019, with a wealth of experience in fashion, Nuits Balnéaires settled in Grand-Bassam to develop his art. The same year, his documentation of the floods in Grand-Bassam earned him a one-year visual journalism scholarship with the World Press Photo Foundation. He thus became the first Ivorian to be selected for such a coveted award. In 2020, he was one of the winners of the Cultural and Environmental responses for environmental change initiated by the Prince Claus Fund and the Goethe Institute. Also as an exhibiting artist, Nuits Balnéaire’s work has been shown in Côte d’Ivoire, Canada, United States of America, France, Netherlands and Australia.
